Surfers of Japan is a passion project. after surfing here for nearly 20 years and having to take a break from working on documentaries due to Covid. I decided to grab my cameras and my surfboards and hit the road in my van to capture what surfing in Japan is really all about.
I am not a vlogger, have always much preferred the Taylor Steele style of surf film.
These videos are my attempt to capture some of the unique surfing magic that you can find in Japan.
March 21st 2021 offshore clean conditions at one of Miyazaki's most well known surf spots. While Kisakihama can get crowded it can also get really fun, just be sure to paddle out with a good positive vibe.
March 7th 2021 It's cold, the wind is howling offshore and the waves are perfect for loggin'. So when the crowd shows up, these surfers just turn every wave into a party wave.
March 5th 2021, if you think it's hard to surf in subzero temps when the sun is out, maybe try it after the sun goes behind the mountains. This was a surf session that proves the dedication of surfers even when it seems crazy to be in the water.
